Hint: We are given an algebraic expression and we have to simplify it to simplify an algebraic expression. We will use the rule of BODMAS. Here BODMAS stands for B- bracket, O- of, D- divide, M- multiplication, A- addition, S- Subtraction. Firstly we would remove the parentheses by multiplying factors. After removing the parenthesis we will arrange the like terms together then we will perform subtraction according to the expression we are given.
Complete step-by-step answer:
Step1: We are given an expression $7x - 3(5 + x)$. We will here use the rule of BODMAS. Here BODMAS stands for B- bracket, O- of, D- divide, M- multiplication, A- addition, S- Subtraction. So first we will remove the brackets by multiplying the bracket by $3$. Then we will get:
$ \Rightarrow 7x - 15 - 3x$
Step2: Now we will arrange the like terms together i.e. we will put the term having the coefficient of $x$ together. On putting them together we will get:
$ \Rightarrow 7x - 3x - 15$
After rearrangement we will perform the subtraction. After performing the subtraction we will get:
$ \Rightarrow 4x - 15$ is the simplified form of the expression.
Hence the required simplified form is $4x - 15$
Note:
In such types of questions following the rule of BODMAS different expressions have different operations in it. But in all cases follow this rule and first remove the parentheses. If in case of exponents term then solve the exponents first after removing the parenthesis be careful in the multiplication of signs during the removal of parenthesis. If we remove parenthesis by multiplying by negative sign the sign after multiplication gets reversed and on multiplication with positive sign no sign gets reversed. Just remember this while solving chances of getting questions wrong become less.
